Spotlight on Teaching


The Spotlight on Teaching is an event designed to spur conversations around teaching and learning, and to showcase pedagogical innovation. Two weeks in Spring semester is dedicated to highlighting teaching excellence on our campus.  The Transformative Educational Experiences projects are showcased during a poster session. A variety of other events are also held, including a panel discussion, a session to honor the year’s winner of the Distinguished Achievement College-level Award for Teaching, and a keynote talk from leading experts in teaching and learning. Past keynote speakers include Dr. Saundra McGuire, author of Teach Yourself How to Learn.

Invent for the Planet

Invent for the Planet (IFTP) is an annual international competition that is organized on the Qatar campus by the CTL, in coordination with the College of Engineering in College Station. It is a48-hour intensive design experience that engages students from more than 40 universities over 20 countries around the world, across 15 different time zones.The challenge is to tackle big issues given by industry and develop products that make the world a better place.Texas A&M University has partnered with groups such as Venture Well, Autodesk, and Microsoft to make it one of the most exciting global engineering experiences.
